‘Ârûda is a uruk-temporal (ca. 3500 – 3300) settlement, perhaps more like a temple district with houses on the Euphrates, ca. 1500 km northwest of Uruk, possibly a kind of colony to secure economic interests. ‘Aruda is connected with Habuba Kabira, about 8 km further southeast, which today has disappeared in the Euphrates lake. The pictures 1388 – 1395 were taken from Jabal ‘Aruda, just behind the settlement, the GPS tag is only approximate. (here: Tele-cut from picture 1391).
