‘Ârûda is a uruk-temporal (ca. 3500 – 3300) settlement, perhaps rather a temple district with houses, on the Euphrates, ca. 1500 km northwest of Uruk, possibly a kind of colony to secure economic interests. ‘Ârûda is connected with Habuba Kabira, about 8 km further southeast, which has disappeared today in the Euphrates lake. The pictures 1388 – 1395 were taken from Jabal ‘Ârûda, just behind/above the settlement. (On this picture the southern area with view to the south-east, see picture 1390)
